Negreanu Puts Martirosian in a Spot

Level 22 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

Artur Martirosian called from the cutoff and called when Daniel Negreanu m,ade it 1,350,000 from the button.

The K69 flop checked through to the 7 turn. Martirosian used a time bank before betting 1,400,000. Negreanu called.

The 9 completed the board, and Martirosian checked. Negreanu fired out 2,500,000, sending Martirosian into the tank.

"Hmmm," Martirosian exhaled as he used up two time banks. Eventually, he returned his cards to the dealer.

Negreanu "Flops Quads" Against Martirosian

Artur Martirosian limped the dead button and Daniel Negreanu checked from the single big blind to the 1073 flop. Negreanu check-called for 450,000 and then both checked the 10 on the turn. The Q followed on the river and Negreanu bet 850,000, forcing a fold.

"I flopped quads," Negreanu said and flashed the 777 before collecting the pot with a smirk.

Yosuke Miki Eliminated in 5th Place ($516,160)

Right after the blinds went up, Artur Martirosian limped the small blind and Yosuke Miki checked from the big blind. Martirosian bet the J62 flop for 300,000 and Miki called.

That led them to the K turn on which Martirosian bet 1,000,000 and Miki called once more.

Heads-up to the 5 river, Martirosian glanced at the stack of his opponent and then bet 2,400,000. Miki used a time bank and then jammed for around 3,625,000 to get snap-called by Martirosian.

Miki showed his KJJ3 for a flopped set of jacks but Martirosian had the goods with the QJ43 for the rivered straight. That spelled the end for Miki in fifth place, good enough for a payday of $516,160.

Miki Takes Two

Chris Frank made it 840,000 from the hijack and Daniel Negreanu called from the small blind.

Negreanu check-called for 1,070,000 on the 1052 flop, swelling the pot to 4,300,000. On the 8 turn, Negreanu bet pot and Frank called to create the biggest pot of the day.

The 8 river checked through to showdown.

Negreanu sheepishly announced a pair of tens, tabling KJ109.

"A ten is good," sighed Frank, and Negreanu celebrated with his family and friends on the rail.

Miki Gets Short; Wins Back Some Chips

Level 21 : Blinds 120,000/240,000, 240,000 ante

Daniel Negreanu limped in from under the gun and Chris Frank did so from the button, as did Artur Martirosian in the small blind. Yosuke Miki then potted to 1,200,000 in the big blind and was called by Negreanu as well as Frank, while Martirosian folded.

"Good luck guys," Philip Sternheimer said.

The flop came K97 and Miki used one time bank before he checked. Negreanu bet 1,800,000 for Frank to fold while Miki used another time bank to call with a shorter stack behind.

Miki then checked the 5 turn and folded to a shove.

The rail applauded for Negreanu and Sternheimer boldly joked "oh fuck you guys, let's go Japan".

One hand later, Miki potted to 720,000 in the small blind and was called by Negreanu. The 743 flop was checked by Miki, Negreanu bet 450,000 and received a call. Both checked the K on the turn and Miki used a time bank before he bet almost all of his chips on the 2 river to force a snap-fold.

Pots Being Traded

Chris Frank raised to 840,000 from the cutoff and Artur Martirosian called from the button. Frank check-folded to a bet of 760,000 on the QJ2 flop.

Yosuke Miki potted it to 840,000 from the button and Philip Sternheimer defended his big blind. On the 877 flop, Sternheimer check-raised to 1,400,000 over a bet of 500,000 and took down the pot.

Martirosian made it 840,000 from the hijack and took down the blinds.

Frank limped in from the small blind and Martirosian checked his option in the big blind. Frank check-folded to a bet on the Q96 flop.

Frank Retains Comfortable Lead

Artur Martirosian limped in the cutoff and Daniel Negreanu did so in the small blind, Philip Sternheimer checked from the big blind. The trio checked the 1084 flop before Negreanu led the 4 turn for 500,000, Sternheimer was the only caller.

Both checked the J on the river and Negreanu won the pot with the AQ54 for trips fours.

Sternheimer then limped the button and Chris Frank did so from the small blind. Martirosian potted to 960,000 in the big blind and Frank was the only caller. Frank checked the QJ10 flop and folded when Martirosian bet 800,000 for one third of the pot.

Some friendly table banter broke out in which Negreanu said "sorry that you lost a hand, we are all very sorry for you".

Frank replied "Artur winning chips is very dangerous."

Frank then potted the next button to 840,000 and Martirosian called in the small blind, leaned to the chip leader and said "I try to win one more":

The flop brought J85 and Martirosian checked. Frank announced his bet in German before moving forward 1,070,000 in two motions. Martirosian folded and Frank retained his top spot by a wide margin.
