In one of the first hands of the day, Yingxin Chen opened to 400 from under the gun and Fahd Bennani Smires called from the big blind.
The 5♠10♠J♦ flop saw Smires check, and Chen bet out 300. Smires mucked his hand and Chen got an early chip up.

With about 11,000 in the pot on a board of 5♠J♦10♠9♣, Craig Gambardella bet 3,000 from the big blind and Michael Allen called from the hijack.
The 7♥ completed the board, and Gambardella checked. Allen spent more than two minutes in the tank before checking back.
Gambardella tabled A♠J♥ for top pair with top kicker, and Allen mucked.
Thomas Sacquet raised to 500 on the button, and only the big blind called.
When Sacquet continued with a bet of 400 on the 7♥A♠7♠ flop, it was enough to take the pot down, as the big blind folded.
A couple of hands after, Sacquet raised again, this time making it 600 from under the gun. This time both players in the blinds called.
Once again, a continuation bet did the trick, as his 700 wager on a 5♥10♠2♠ flop received two folds.
Heads-up on a board of A♣7♣5♦9♦, Oliver Entine on the button bet 800. Thomas Bellanger under the gun went into the tank and called.
The 3♥ landed on the river and after Bellanger checked, Entine bet 1,000.
Bellanger eventually made the call only to run into Entine's two pair with 7♠5♠.
Andrew Davis was in the big blind and already looking at a 5♦9♦J♥5♣ board with a pot of just over 3,000. He was up against Juan Ramirez, who was on the button. Davis bet 1,700, and Ramirez called to see the 10♠ river.
Davis check-called a 6,000 bet, and Ramirez tabled his A♣A♠ for two pair. Davis quickly mucked, and the pot was pushed towards Ramirez. Davis remarked, "Pretty nice start!"
Heads up to the 10♥3♠6♥K♣ turn, Robert Peltekci fired a pot-sized bet of 6,500 from the small blind. Dave Johnson called under the gun, seeing his opponent enter the tank on the 4♦ river.
After a minute or so, Peltekci checked. Johnson quickly checked behind, revealing A♥J♣.
"That's good," Peltekci muttered. "You would have called, right?"
"Hell no," Johnson replied. "I'm not going to call with nothing!"
David Bortolussi raised to 500 in the cutoff and Matthew Sepe three-bet to 1,600 on the button. Bortolussi called, and they went heads-up to the J♣6♦7♥ flop.
Sepe then continued for 2,400, and Bortolussi called. Both players checked the A♣ turn.
Bortolussi led out for 6,000 on the 2♣ river, and Sepe then raised to 15,000. Bortolussi quickly folded.
With 3,300 already in the pot, Aliaksei Boika checked from the small blind on a 4♣4♥J♠ flop. Jamey McKay bet 800 from the big blind, and Boika called.
It was the same pattern on the 6♥ turn: Boika checked, McKay bet 1,700, and Boika called.
The 5♦ river checked through, and Boika took it down with Q♥J♣.
