2026 Wynn Summer Classic
In the 980th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, which is sponsored by FanDuel Poker, Chad Holloway, Mike Holtz, and Ben Ludlow are joined by Hayden "Big Red" Hetland at Level 9 Studio in Las Vegas.
The quartet discusses the latest stories from the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP), starting with the controversial "dead hand" ruling made against Patrick "Pads" Leonard. Not only will you see videos of what happened, but Chad also caught up with Pads for an exclusive interview to discuss the aftermath.
From there, it's a discussion about an X-rated card protector, the eight Poker Hall of Fame nominees, and big bracelet wins by Josh Reichard and Eelis Parssinen. Speaking of big wins, Benny Glaser got the job done in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship (PPC), giving him his ninth bracelet in 11 years! It also came just a year after he shipped an incredible three bracelets. See PokerNews' winner interview with Glaser, who was clearly emotional after the victory.
Finally, the crew thanks sponsor Think Jerky, which you can order here.

Today's the day that the Wynn Summer Classic declares a champion in the $10 million guaranteed $10,400 Wynn Summer Championship. This flagship event played down to the final table yesterday, when just nine players remained from a field of 1,170.
The remaining players will be back at midday to compete for their cut of the $11,466,000 prize pool.
While the main event of the festival plays down to a winner, three other events will kick off.
The first of these three events will be a $1,100 No Limit Hold'em event starting at midday, with a guarantee of $250,000 and late registration until around 4:30 p.m.
An hour later at 1:00 p.m., Day 1A of the $1,600 Pot Limit Omaha event begins. This event has a $1,000,000 guarantee and late registration until 8:30 p.m., due to the longer, 40-minute blind levels.
Finally, there will be one of the festival's many $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Turbo events. This will kick off at 6:00 p.m., with late registration until 9:00 p.m.

Day 3 of the Wynn Summer Championship started with 64 players from a field of 1,170 players still in the action. By the end of the day, just nine remained.
With $11,466,000 in the pot, the top two spots are both worth over a million, with more than $1.8 million reserved for the first-place finisher.
Linglin Zeng led the field at the start of the day, but by the end of the day Zeng was fourth in chips. The chip lead had passed to Jans Arends with 15,225,000 in chips.
Arends has nearly double the next biggest stack at the final table. That stack is 8,475,000 and is held by Mario Quilez.
Behind Quilez is Giorgii Skhulukhiia who bagged the third biggest stack of 8,025,000.
The final table will return later today to play down to a winner.

The $25,400 High Roller at the Wynn Summer Classic attracted a rarified group of just 25 players.
Adrian Mateos won the event after two days of action. With $625,000 in the prize pool and just four places paid, the top prize was $267,185.
Mateos is already the 5th on The Hendon Mob's All-Time Money list with $67.3 million. So even a prize of this size is just a drop in the ocean.
Mateos took first by defeating Jovan Kenjic heads up to earn the trophy. Kenjic earned $162,500 for second place.
The other two players to cash were Vladimir Minko, who earned $110,940 for coming third, and Barak Wisbrod, who earned $84,375 for fourth.
