Merletten Doubles Before Dinner

Xingwei Chen raised to 600,000 from under the gun, and Paul Merlette called from the big blind. The flop arrived with 564, and Merlette checked to the preflop raiser, who bet 500,000. Merlette took his shot and moved all in for 3,800,000. Chen pondered and called.

Chen was ahead with top pair heading to the turn, which was the 2, and the river A sealed Merlette's win with a straight.

Tan Scoops a Massive Double

Michael Starek opened to 625,000 in hijack and Wes Heryford to his left called. Lisa Tan on the button three-bet to 2,300,000. Starek folded but Heryford four-bet all-in for 14,000,000 sending Tan to the tank.

She counted her chips, took her hoodie off and put up her hair. Finally she called putting her tournament life on the line.

The flop came 84J pushing Tan into lead with a pair. The K turn gave her a two pair securing her a double up. The river 7 was a formality.

Tan's scooped her massive double up which prompted a frustrated Heryford to talk to his rail.

Starek Happy to Continue

Michael Starek open-shoved for 2,150,000 in late position and big blind Adriaan Jacobs called leading them to the flop.

A big smile went across Starek's face when the flop came 63A pushing him ahead. He told the dealer to slow down so his rail can withness his double up.

The dealer continued with a Q turn and completed the board with a 4 river. Starek was visibly happy to have survived.
