Atkins Preserves Remainder of Stack

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Paul Bianchi bet 23,500 on a board of {2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Spades}{10-Clubs} after two players checked to him. One player folded, but Mark Atkins made the call, leaving himself just about 6,500 behind. Atkins checked the {6-Spades} river, and Bianchi put him all in. After about a minute of thought and a few cracked knuckles, Atkins laid his hand down.

Romer Busts; Three Tables Remain

"They got me," Bill Romer said as he strolled over to talk to the Mid-States Poker Tour staff.

The tournament is down to three tables.

Cornelius Sends One to Rail

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Julie Cornelius opened for 5,500 in middle position and saw the player on her left shove. Everyone else folded, and Cornelius called.

Opponent: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{a-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, no threat to Cornelius' jacks.

Hargis Catches Seyferth Shoving Light

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Mike Holm opened for a raise, and John Seyferth shoved all in for approximately 29,000. Dustin Hargis reshipped from the small blind, and Holm got out of the way.

Seyferth: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Hargis: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}

Seyferth asked for diamonds but he got none on the {k-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop. The {10-Clubs} turned though, giving him life with a straight draw.

"Yes, come on, jack or a six!" he exhorted.

No such luck, as a {3-Diamonds} fell.

Bianchi Straightened Out

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

A player raised to 3,500 in early position and received three calls. Paul Bianchi squeezed to about 16,000 from the small blind, and action folded to Bryan Dillon on the button, who immediately shipped for about 20,000. Bianchi called, turning over {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}. Dillon had {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, but the board ran out {2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, giving Dillon an unlikely straight.

Bianchi Takes From Younan

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Paul Bianchi check-called from early position when Michael Younan bet 6,600 from the button on a board of {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} board. Bianchi checked again on the {j-Diamonds} river, and Younan bet 13,100. Bianchi thought for about a minute before flicking a chip into the middle. Younan flipped {khqd] for an airball, and Bianchi showed {9-Spades}{8-Spades} for top pair on the flop.

"Nice call, Paulie," Younan said.

Bogus Nearing 200,000

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Four players saw a {k-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{8-Spades} flop for a raise, and everyone checked. A player in middle position bet 7,000 on the {4-Clubs} turn, and Casey Bogus was the only caller. Bogus' opponent checked the {2-Clubs} river, and Bogus bet 12,000. He was quickly called, but his {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} was good.
