Kinesh Pater had been an early big stack but plummeted to around 30 big blinds before the dinner break. He got those in for 63,000 preflop and Joseph Stegers looked him up with the covering stack.
Kinesh Pater: K♦K♥
Joseph Stegers: A♦Q♣
No ace came on the J♠8♣3♠4♦5♠ board and Pater doubled back into contention.
Rayhaan Adam raised and then called a three-bet shove by Nadav Mazor for eleven blinds out of the blinds.
Nadav Mazor: K♣8♣
Rayhaan Adam: J♦9♥
The 10♣8♥2♠ flop gave Adam an open-ended straight draw and the 7♣ turn improved Adam to the straight. He needed to dodge clubs and did so with the 3♥ river. Mazor sighed, grabbed his belongings and told the bad news to his brother Elai before heading out of the tournament area.
Two players limped in including Jehan Richards and Teren Ramnundlall then squeezed to 12,000 in the big blind. Only Richards called and the flop came 8♦7♥5♦. Ramnundlall continued for 20,000, which did the trick to win the pot without any further resistance.
Soon after the action resumed upon completion of the dinner break, Rayhaan Adam raised to 5,000 first to act. Paul Mantzios in the small blind and Mathew OrdHume in the big blind called. It checked to OrdHume on the K♥4♦3♥ flop and he jammed for 14,000, only Mantzios called.
Mathew OrdHume: K♣Q♠
Paul Mantzios: 6♠6♦
The J♠ turn and 9♦ river brought no upset, as OrdHume doubled.
Moments later, Brian Rettman walked past the table as he was knocked out on the live stream table by Keegan Pillay.
Level: 10
Blinds: 1,000/2,000
Ante: 2,000
According to the tournament info, there are 153 entries after nine levels of play on Day 1c. The field has been cut down all the way to just 57 players already and they are on a 45-minute dinner break now. During the break, the T-100 chips are raced off and they will soon be needed as the turbo heat 1d is set to kick off at 8 p.m. local time.
Day 1d will recommence at approximately 7.48 p.m. local time with one more 50-minute level of late registration and re-entries.
Merwan Corront took a flip for his last 41,400 right before the end of the level and he was up against Warren Zackey to create the following showdown.
Merwan Corront: 4♣4♥
Warren Zackey: A♦Q♦
It became a mighty sweat on the 8♦6♠2♦ flop but Corront held up on the 3♠ turn as well as J♠ river.
"How do you miss there?" a stunned Zackey sighed.
One table over, Tutu Russon three-bet jammed a shorter stack out of the blinds and Menesh Keshav called in middle position.
Tutu Russon: K♣Q♥
Menesh Keshav: A♥8♥
The ace stayed ahead on the A♠J♣5♥2♦8♦ board and Russon hit the rail.
Ahmed Karrim had re-entered not long ago and was moved over to table nine. He had already more than doubled and then won another big pot when challenging lady luck to some degree. Having turned top pair with the Q♥10♥, he was up against A♣Q♣ on 4♣3♠2♣Q♠ and spiked the 10♦ on the river.
On a flop showing J♣9♠7♣, it checked to Jehan Richards who bet 5,000. Vishal Ghoorbin called before Greg Tucker jammed a shorter stack of around 28,000. Richards also moved all-in and Ghoorbin eventually called.
Greg Tucker: K♦9♥
Jehan Richards: Q♦J♥
Vishal Ghoorbin: 4♣2♣
"Give me spades!" Ghoorbin demanded and Richards instantly replied "yeah, give him spades" because Ghoorbin actually had the club flush draw. The 5♥ turn and 4♥ river were blanks and Tucker was eliminated, Ghoorbin only then noticed how silly his request had been.
