Updated Chip Counts at Break

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Players are on the final break of the night.

Liberto Bet-Folds River to Altman

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Justin Liberto made a sizable bet of 4,000 out of the big blind into about 5,500 on {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Brian Altman called from the button and they went to a {9-Spades} river. Liberto bet 5,500 and Altman jammed for a similar-sized stack to Liberto's 30,000. Liberto snap-folded.

Afriat Triples

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Wynn Las Vegas
Wynn Las Vegas

Eric Afriat was down under 10,000 early a couple of times but he is now more than healthy with six figures after a tripled up.

We didn't see the action but it looked to have gone all in three ways on an {8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} flop. Afriat was in late position with {a-Spades}{k-Spades} and he held against a middle player with {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and the big blind's {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} combo draw as the board ran {10-Spades}, {6-Spades}.

Afriat collected 33,100 from each opponent, as well as the 12K in the middle.

Laplante Doubles Through Elias

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Ryan Laplante was all in for 23,900 on the button, with Darren Elias all in for more in middle position. A player who looked to have called an initial Elias open from the cutoff was in the tank and ultimately folded what he said was pocket nines.

Laplante: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Elias: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Laplante's hand held on the {6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs} board, which left the cutoff ruing his fold.

Phan Pays Out a Dub

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A player in the big blind led out for 7,400 on a {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop and Tuan Phan made the call from early position. On the {k-Diamonds} turn, the big blind tanked and shoved for 32,900. Phan got the count and called moments later.

Phan: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Big blind: {7-Spades}{6-Spades}

It was a rough spot for Phan, who was drawing thin with his queens, and the {2-Clubs} river didn't do anything for him.

Aido Gets an Overbet Jam Through

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

With {4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{9-Spades} on the felt, Sergio Aido was all in for 52,600 on the button. The big blind was thinking it over, despite the fact Aido had shoved for well over the 35K pot. He studied Aido awhile and ultimately released his cards.

Qartomy Smells the Bluff But Still Loses to Aido

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

On a board of {7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, Ray Qartomy was in early position trying to decide whether to call all in. He had about 18,000 left and there was 40,000 or so in the middle. Sergio Aido had set him in from a couple of seats over with a stack that didn't cover Qartomy by much.

Eventually, Qartomy stuck his stack in and Aido revealed {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for rivered queens up.

"I can smell the bluff from very far away," Qartomy said ruefully. "I knew you don't have it."

Nonetheless, he mucked anyway, what the dealer revealed to be {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.
