Nines for Juanda

Fung Cheung checked the {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts} board, and John Juanda fired 6,800. After a tiny bit of thought, Cheung called to see the dealer land the {2-Hearts} on the river. Cheung checked, and Juanda checked behind.

Cheung showed the {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}, but Juanda's {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} was better and he won the pot.

Sointula Five-Bets

Winfred Yu raised to 2,600 from the hijack after which Jani Sointula three-bet to 7,700 from the cutoff. Kristijonas Andrulis was on the button and he tanked for a bit before four-betting to 15,800.

Yu immediately kicked in his cards, and the pressure was back on Sointula. After 30 seconds the Finnish pro five-bet to 33,700 and Andrulis quickly folded his cards.

O'Dwyer Picks One Up

Level 6 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

From early position, Steve O'Dwyer raised to 3,200. Roger Hairabedian called from middle position, Alex Mostafavi called in the hijack seat, and Paul Phua called from the small blind.

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, and action checked to Mostafavi. He fired 5,000 with only O'Dwyer making the call.

The turn added the {K-Spades} to the board, and both players checked to see the {K-Hearts} pair the board on the river. O'Dwyer bet 10,400, and Mostafavi folded.

Thorel Takes One

Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

On a {Q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{A-Spades} flop Jean-Noel Thorel checked to Zheng Tang. He fired out 17,000 and Thorel called after quite some thinking.

The river brought out the {4-Clubs} and quickly Thorel threw out 25,000. Tang seemed flustered, but folded after a solid minute of thinking. Thorel raked in a nice pot and is up to over 200,000 chips.

Qiang Out; Hairabedian Rebuys

Roger Hairabedian busted and opted to rebuy, while Wang Qiang busted and will not rebuy.

On Qiang's exit, he got his money in good on a flop of {8-}{4-}{2-} with pocket fours against Tom Dwan's pocket kings. A {K-} on the turn and {K-} on the river gave Dwan Quads and sent Qiang to the rail.

Rettenmaier Can't Figure Out The G

Marvin Rettenmaier just raised to 2,500 and Tony G called from the button. The flop came down {A-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Rettenmaier checked to Tony G who bet 3,000. The German pro called.

On the turn the {K-Spades} hit and again Rettenmaier checked. Tony G bet 7,000 and Rettenmaier called.

The river brought the {7-Clubs} and Rettenmaier checked a third time. Tony G did not stop betting as he casually flicked a red 25,000-chip into the pot.

"Tony, ai, ai, ai," Rettenmaier sighed after some pondering. He did not get anything out of his opponent and eventually folded the {A-Hearts} face up. Tony G mucked his cards as he's off to a good start.
