Smith Hits the Rail, Snell Busts Zhang

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jo Snell
Jo Snell

Adam Smith's tournament is over, with the Sydney native committing the last of his chips pre-flop with pocket jacks and running into an opponent's pocket aces.

Bobby Zhang's joined Smith on the rail shortly afterwards, with Jo Snell the man to send him there, with Zhang kind enough to provide PokerNews with the details after the fact.

Following a raise to 20,000 from a player in the cutoff, Snell flexed his big stack and moved all-in from the button. Zhang was sitting on a stack of 200,000 in the blinds and woke up with {a-Spades}{q-Spades} and called all-in for his tournament life, and after the original raiser folded, Snell rolled over {6-}{7-} offsuit.

Zhang's final board would come down {k-}{j-}{4-}{3-}{7-}, with Snell catching a seven on the river to send Zhang out in 92nd place. Snell stacked up to just over 1 million after the hand.

Lockwood Doubles

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Following a raise from the hijack to 22,000 Bobby Zhang moved all-in from the button for 130,000 to take down the hand, flashing his opponent {j-Clubs}{j-Spades} after the fact.

An orbit later on the same table, Jo Snell opened the action with a raise to 22,000 from under-the-gun, with Blake Lockwood moving all-in from the button for 90,000 in total. Snell, who is sitting on a massive stack, tossed in the extras and the two turned their cards over.

Jo Snell: {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Blake Lockwood: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

The {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop saw Snell pair his nine, but the {8-Diamonds} turn killed his two pair draws, which was just as well for Lockwood as the {k-Spades} hit the river. Lockwood stacked up to 200,000 after the hand.

The Floodgates Have Opened

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

As is typically the case, the bursting of the bubble has resulted in a slew of eliminations as all those short-stacks who have been clinging on for dear life try to go big or go home, and for eight of them it was the latter.

Harry Basle has become one of the more recent eliminations, running pocket jacks into pocket kings to depart in 112th.

Despite doubling on the bubble, the short-stacked Sosia Jiang also hit the rail, committing her last 26,000 from the button with {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} with Matthew Barker looking her up from the big blind with {k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

Jiang's last runout would come {7-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and for a moment she thought she had made the straight, but unfortunately, the New Zealander found herself one card short and hit the rail in 111th while Barker stacked up to 274,000.
