Bojang Losing Ground

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Ismael Bojang earlier this summer
Ismael Bojang earlier this summer

With about 30,000 chips already in the middle on a flop of {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, Ismael Bojang bet 16,000 from the small blind. His lone opponent in the big blind called.

The turn brought the {K-Clubs} and both players checked.

The river was the {4-Spades} and Bojang went into the tank for over a minute before he bet 25,000. The big blind called and Bojang began to move his cards toward the muck but didn't release them until the big blind showed {J-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Bojang flashed {Q-}{9-} as he mucked and his opponent took the pot.

Former Champ Scotty Nguyen Eliminated

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen

Scotty Nguyen moved all in from early position for his last 73,000. Action folded to Jesse Decker, who called in the big blind.

Nguyen: {a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Decker: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Nguyen found some help on the {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop, as he picked up a backdoor straight draw and some immediate outs to chop. The {3-Diamonds} turn did him no good though, and the {10-Diamonds} river was also a brick. He shrugged helplessly and headed for payouts.

With the departure of Nguyen, there are no longer any WSOP Main Event champions in the field.

Akkari Doubles Up

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Andre Akkari
Andre Akkari

In a hand just before the break, Andre Akkari got his short stack in the middle before the flop against a single opponent.

Akkari: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Opponent: {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Akkari had a commanding lead with his aces, and although the {J-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop gave his opponent some outs with an open-ended straight draw, neither the {7-Diamonds} on the turn nor {10-Spades} on the river improved either player and Akkari took the pot to double up.

Scotty Nguyen Crumbles, Then Doubles

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Scotty Nguyen made a move on a {5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades} board with {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} but his opponent Liam He had flopped a set with {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

Nguyen had He all-in and at risk but no help came from the rest of the board and Nguyen was forced to pay He a double up, leaving himself with crumbs.

Not long after, Nguyen got the rest of his stack in against new table-mate Daniel Barry. Nguyen shoved with {k-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Barry called with {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

Nguyen picked up a pair on the {k-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} board and doubled up.
