Kyosuke Nagami opened to 450,000 from the button and Daniel Savas defended his big blind.
The 5♣4♣3♠ flop brought plenty of action. Savas check-raised to 825,000 over a bet of 325,000. Nagami responded with a reraise to 1,700,000 but quickly folded when Savas four-bet snap-jammed as the bigger stack.
In a limped pot between the blinds, Berkeley Yuan checked on the flop of 8♥7♣9♦ and Kyosuke Nagami bet 500,000. Yuan called.
Yuan checked on the 5♦ turn and Nagami bet the same 500,000. Yuan again called. Both players then checked on the Q♣ river.
Yuan showed 10♥8♣ for a pair of eights, but it was no good against the pair of nines of his opponent with J♠9♣.
After a discussion about the shot clock which came into play today, Junjie Tang opened to 400,000 from the button. Lauri Saaskilahti, in the small blind, three-bet to 1,500,000, sending Tang deep into the tank.
Tang burned one time-bank extension before four-betting all in for a total of 17,300,000. Saaskilahti didn’t need long to fold.
Ralph Perry raised to 400,000 in middle position and Evagoras Evagorou called in the big blind.
The flop came J♠6♦5♠ and Perry continued for 275,000. Evagorou called, and the 5♦ fell on the turn.
Perry then bet 1,200,000, and Evagorou again called. The river was the Q♥ and Perry bet 2,500,000. Evagorou used up a time bank before calling once more.
Perry tapped the felt in acknowledgment and went to muck his cards, while Evagorou turned over K♣J♣ for a pair of jacks to win the pot.
On the right hand feature table, Gregory Brown was all-in for only 425,000 and received a call by Dylan Smith to set up the following showdown.
Gregory Brown: A♣3♠
Dylan Smith: A♠10♥
The K♣9♥8♠4♥7♠ runout made sure that the kicker played and Brown became the first casualty on Day 7.
On the left side feature table, Rami Hammoud raised to 400,000 from under the gun and Ori Elul jammed for 3,625,000. Jacob Thibodeau on the button asked for a count and folded, as did Hammoud.
One hand later, Greg Mueller raised to 400,000 from under the gun and Hammoud called from the big blind. On a flop of J♣10♦2♦, Hammoud check-folded to Mueller's bet of 200,000.
All 62 remaining players are back in their seats and the action is officially underway. Each of the players has received five time banks to act and the blinds are 100,000-200,000 with a big blind ante of 200,000.
Before Michael Rocco won his first World Series of Poker bracelet two years ago, he'd already decided he was leaving poker behind.
When PokerNews caught up with the high-stakes player during the 2024 WSOP, the conversation wasn't about solvers, Player of the Year races, or the growing list of near-misses that had come to define his career. Instead, Rocco revealed he was preparing to step away from the game to pursue regenerative farming.
And then a few hours later, he finally won the bracelet he'd spent years chasing.
For most players, finally reaching the top would have been the beginning of another chapter. For Rocco, it simply meant he got to leave exactly how he'd hoped.
PokerNews caught up with the now 36-year-old to see how life is on the farm, and whether the poker grind is something that he yearns to go back to.
The 62 remaining players have taken their seats, and cards are in the air.
The PokerNews live updates will be on delay to match the live stream. Updates are expected to start at noon local time.
