What Is the Threshold?
As the dealer was distributing the cards to the table, Craig Varnell was asking Brian Wood what his threshold would be for calling all in so close to the end of the day.
"What would you do with pocket jacks?" he asked.
"Snap-fold", Wood replied.
"Thanks for the information", Varnell closed with.
Wood then got dealt his two cards and opted to limp in from the hijack.
Pierre-Alexandre Lessard raised to 18,000 in the small blind, which Varnell called in the big blind, and Wood called too.
The dealer spread a 5♥2♠Q♠ flop, and the action checked to Wood, who bet 30,000. Both Lessard and Varnell snap-folded, and Wood showed that, having just had the conversation, he had been dealt J♠J♣.
"When I looked down at the hand, I thought, I better shut up", Wood said after pulling in the pot.
Lessard and Varnell then both confirmed that all the jacks were dead, after sharing that they each folded ace-jack.
