Skeens Misreads His Hand, Bests Chamas Anyway
Level 2
: Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Rayan Chamas bet 800 from the cutoff on a flop of 8♣7♠9♦ and Johnny Skeens raised to 2,000 in the big blind. Chamas called, and the 2♠ fell on the turn.
Skeens then bet 4,000, and Chamas again called. Both players checked down the 5♠ river. "Straight," Skeens said, turning over 10♥9♥. The table then pointed out that he just had a pair of nines, but it was enough as Chamas mucked.
"I can't see that far," Skeens joked.
"Does that make it better or worse?" Yevgeniy Minakrin asked Chamas.
"It's fine either way," Chamas replied.
