Big Stacks Collide

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Two of the biggest stacks left in this tournament, owned by Ernest Ward and David Baker, got into a massive hand, as Ward took Baker to value town.

On a board reading 792 Baker had bet out for 40,000, but saw a raise from Ernest Ward to 100,000. That was Baker's last aggressive action of the hand, as after calling the flop, he check-called a bet of 215,000 on the K turn. For a second time, on the 2 river he check-called Ward's bet, this time for 350,000.

"Sevens full" announced Ward, as Baker mucked what he told the table was aces.

Baker Takes Down Rose

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Boyd Rose raised to 30,000 from the cutoff and David "ODB" Baker reraised to 410,000 from the small blind.

Another player at the table commented to Baker "you know this is 10,000/15,000 right?".

Rose said "I think I have to come along for the ride,” with Baker responding "you don't have to".

Rose moved his remaining 300,000 stack into the middle and the players flipped their cards.

Boyd Rose: KQAll in
David "ODB" Baker: A10

Baker was ahead, but the J79 flop gave both something to play with.

The 8 river improved Baker to a straight, and Rose couldn't recover on the 6 river.

Huge Sweat for Gelman

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Michael Lin opened the betting in middle position, before Herbert Gelman popped in a three-bet to 115000. When action got back round to Lin, he ripped in his stack of 430,000. Gelman had 480,000 behind, and covered, however was put into quite the spot. After taking his time and weighing up his options, Gelman made the call.

Michael Lin: AK All in
Herbert Gelman: AK

"No flushes," agreed the two players, as both were happy to take a chop. The KKJ flop seemed relatively safe, as both players hit trips, but the 4 turn gave Lin a flush draw, and he was freerolling Gelman. "One time!" shouted Lin, but the 9 river had the dealer splitting the pot. "Did you just use your one time?" asked Gelman, concerned that Lin had taken back their preflop agreement.
