Action was heads up with {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{9-Spades} on the flop when Mohamed Serry checked and Dan Bekavac bet 1,700. Serry raised to 4,100 and Bekavac fired back with 10,000.

Serry thought for a very brief moment and went all in. Bekavac looked at his cards and shook his head before he tossed them in the muck.

Welcome to Day 1a of the $1,600 Main Event of the Mid-States Poker Tour(MSPT) stop at Venetian Las Vegas. Cards go in the air at 11:10 a.m. local time for the first of three opening flights.

The $1,100 version drew 464 players to the Venetian on Tuesday and Thursday, and the 52 surviving players reconvene today to play down to a winner. The event offered a $250,000 guarantee but generated $447,760 for the prize pool.

Today’s event offers a $750,000 guarantee, and it is sure to draw a field of high-profile players and local grinders throughout the weekend.

Players will start with 30,000 in chips and play 40-minute levels. Reentries are unlimited and registration will remain open until approximately 8:10 p.m. Play will continue until approximately 11% of the field remain, and all surviving players will return on Sunday for the Day 2 finale.
