Robert Steinmetz Loses Race Ending His Tournament

Level 22 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Robert Steinmetz
Robert Steinmetz

Action on the table folded to Robert Steinmetz who raised all in for 233,000 from the hijack and John Schroer called from the cutoff.

John Schroer: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Robert Steinmetz: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

It was a classic race with Steinmetz ahead with his pocket pair and nothing changed after the {5-Clubs}{8-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop.

The board paired with the {8-Hearts} turn and Steinmetz was looking good to score the double until the {k-Spades} fell on the river, ending his tournament in 19th place for $4,994.

Terence Reid: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Clint Lilienthal: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Reid was behind holding live cards but he couldn't find a pair on the {j-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} runout and his tournament ended in 22nd place for $4,142.

Thorson Flops Full House to Eliminate Friedman

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Adam Friedman
Adam Friedman

Taylor Howard opened for 50,000 from early position and was called by Ryan Thorson on the button before Adam Friedman three-bet jammed for 151,000 from the small blind.

Action was on Eric Eelkema who came over the top from the big blind and Howard folded while Thorson called off his 252,000 stack.

Eric Eelkema: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Ryan Thorson: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Adam Friedman: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Thorson was ahead with his pocket nines and he couldn't have asked for a better flop {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Spades} as it gave him a full house.

The {a-Clubs} turn kept Friedman's tournament hopes alive but the {q-Clubs} river ended his tournament.
