We're In The Money!

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Well, that wasn't much of a money bubble. A flurry of eliminations ended with Vic Adams moving all in with pocket nines on a {2-}{3-}{6-}{2-}{J-} board, and Alex Rivera called with {K-}{J-}. Rivera jumped out of his seat when he saw that he'd won, and he's now sitting behind a huge stack of 670,000.

The remaining players have guaranteed themselves at least $1,835, and the race is on for the $59,000 top prize!

Rivera Calls With Ace-High

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Alex Rivera

David Wiles opened from the cutoff and Alex Rivera three-bet to 50,000 from the small blind. Wiles called, and the flop rolled out {2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}. Both players checked, and Rivera led out for 30,000 on the {10-Diamonds} turn. Wiles called.

The river was the {Q-Spades} and Rivera chedked to Wiles, who bet 40,000. Rivera paused briefly before tossing in a call. Wiles showed {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for nine-high, and Rivera tabled his {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} to scoop the pot.

Pachla Busts Nablo

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Alicia Pachla

Now it's Jason Nablo's kings that can't hold. Alicia Pachla shoved for around 18 big blinds with {A-Spades}{K-Hearts} and Jason Nablo called off his last 43,500 with the {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Pachla found her ace on the {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop, and Nablo failed to hit his one-outer on the turn and river.

Pachla hugged Nablo as he exited the tournament area. "Grab a beer for me."

Hosbach the Hero

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Scott Hosbach
Scott Hosbach

Oh a board of {5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, Yong Wolfer was all in with a stack of 103,000 in front of him. Scott Hosbach had a tough decision and elected to make the call. He pumped his fist when the hands were tabled.

Hosbach: {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Wolfer: {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

Hosbach's small pair was in front, and he dodged the overpaid and flush outs on the {8-Diamonds} river to eliminate another player and climb past 700,000 in chips.

Knight, Thomson Eliminated Simultaneously

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Josh Knight
Josh Knight

After having his aces cracked by the {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} of Xiaohu Chen, Josh Knight shoved his last 32,000 from the small blind with {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Buck Ramsey called with the {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds} from the big. The {5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} board sent Knight to the rail short of the money.

At the next table over, Jimmy Thomson was all in with {A-}{K-Clubs} against Vic Adams' aces and couldn't improve. We're down to 40 players.

Kings No Good at Table 1

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Shortly after Veerab Zakarian lost with kings at Table 1, Andy Spears had his own kings cracked by Kevin Cunningham.

Spears opened to 9,000 from the button, Cunningham three-bet from the big blind and Spears shoved. Cunningham called off for 104,000 total.

Spears: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Cunningham: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

The {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop shifted the advantage to Cunningham, and Spears was unable to catch up on the {6-Spades} turn and {9-Hearts} river.

Pfeifer Survives Again

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Randy Pfeifer
Randy Pfeifer

After doubling through Cameron Bartolotta with {Q-}{9-} against {A-}{K-}, Randy Pfeifer came from behind again versus Veerab Zakarian. Pfeifer was all in with {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and saw the bad news when Zakarian tabled {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}.

"What the f***!"

But Pfeifer's mood changed when the board ran out {5-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}, giving him a winning pair of aces.
