Gardy Continues Fast Start

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Two players checked to Steve Pham after {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flopped, and he bet 1,600. Justin Gardenhire, in the cutoff, was the only taker. Gardenhire bet out 2,500 on the {j-Spades} turn, and Pham called. Both checked the {8-Diamonds}, and Gardenhire won with {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

Berthelsen Catches One

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

There was a pot of 7,000 preflop at Table 33, where the small blind bet 2,000 on the {q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop. A player in middle position made it 7,000 for about half of his stack, and Kevin Berthelsen shoved all in on his left for 30,000. Everyone folded back to the raiser, who thought only briefly before mucking.

Gardenhire Plays it Passive

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Justin Gardenhire and Dylan Meier saw a {3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop, with Gardenhire checking in middle position and Meier checking back on the button. Gardenhire check-called 1,700 on the {6-Hearts} turn and another 2,200 on the {5-Spades} river. Meier indicated he couldn't win and Gardenhire showed {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

Gardenhire, a RunGood Pro, chopped last week's event at Hard Rock Tulsa for $40,000.

There was a bloated preflop pot at Table 37, where Duane Gerleman and Andre Allen saw {9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{q-Clubs} hit the felt with 6,500 already in the middle. Gerleman checked in the big blind, and Allen bet 2,000. Gerleman made it 4,000, and Allen called. On the {10-Diamonds} turn, Allen called 3,000, and both checked the {5-Diamonds}, with Allen thinking awhile last to act before turning {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} over.

"I wasn't folding," Gerleman assured him, showing {a-Spades}{q-Spades} and taking the pot.

Players are on break for 15 minutes.

Tepen Back In; Other Counts

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

RunGood Pro Ryan Tepen went bust but came back in right away. Andre "Aces" Allen, who made the final table of the Kansas City event two weeks ago along with Tepen, has also joined the tournament.

Meier Stays Hot

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Dylan Meier bet 2,300 on the big blind on a board of {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. His opponent in the cutoff expressed disgust at the river card before putting in a call. Meier showed {j-}{10-} for a straight. His opponent slammed down what looked like {a-}{q-}.

Meier has surpassed 50,000 and is closing in on tripling his starting stack by first break.
