Safavi Eliminated by Grafton

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Sayed [Removed:321] Mehdi Safavi raised to 40,000 from under the gun and Sam Grafton defended his big blind.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Grafton checked to Safavi who bet 45,000. Grafton check-raised to 110,000 and Safavi moved all in for 590,000. Grafton called.

Grafton: {8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Safavi: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and the river the {9-Spades} meaning that Grafton's flush held, and Safavi was eliminated.

Players are now redrawing around three tables.

Soos Eliminated by Solyom

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Alpar Gyorgy Soos moved all in for around 210,000 in early position. It folded to Solyom who, after being one of the larger stacks since the end of yesterday, found himself with a shoving stack. He moved all in as well and the remaining players all folded.

Soos: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Solyom: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}

The pair exchanged a fist bump before the flop was dealt. The board came {8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Soos was eliminated.

Pugzlys Doubles Up After Scary Flop

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Linas Pugzlys moved all in from under the gun in the very next hand after he doubled up Yaniv Avinoam. It folded to Alpar Gyorgy Soos who called in the cutoff.

Pugzlys: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Soos: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

The flop came {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Clubs} giving Soos an open-ended straight draw. The turn was the {7-Hearts} and the river the {3-Spades}, meaning Pugzlys' Aces held for a timely double up.

Avinoam Doubles Through Pugzlys

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Linas Pugzlys limped in early position and Yaniv Avinoam three-bet all in for 332,000 from the small blind. After some consideration Pugzlys called.

Avinoam showed {j-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Pugzlys allowed a little fist-pump at a correct call and showed {q-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

However unfortunately for him the flop came {j-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and there was no king on a {6-Diamonds} turn or an {8-Spades} river and Avinoam doubled up.

Big Stacks Collide in 2.5m Chip Pot!

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Traian Bostan
Traian Bostan

We said earlier that it was possible for some of the big stacks seated at Table 4 to collide, and it seems that the poker Gods have conjured up something special here in the third level of the day.

Linas Pugzlys opened to 35,000 from early position. It folded to the start-of-day chipleader Nandor Solyom in the small blind who three-bet to 126,000. Traian Bostan was in the big blind and he cold four-bet all-in for 1,321,000.

Pugzlys folded and Solyom, after some consideration, slammed chips down into the middle to indicate a call.

Solyom: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Bostan: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

It was a cooler of monumental portions, and if either player won they would sore into the chiplead, but it was Bostan at risk.

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Bostan doubled to 2.7 million in chips, with Solyom back to just over twenty big blinds.

Tanase Doubles Through Goje

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

On a turn of {j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{q-Spades} Ionel Tanase moved all in for his last 334,000 or about twenty big blinds. His opponent, Samuel Goje, called.

Tanase slammed {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} triumphantly down on the felt and Goje winced showing {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}.

The river was the {8-Spades} and the two players switched places roughly in the standings.

Former Frontrunners Fall in Fast and Furious Fashion

Day 1b chipleader Stefan Fabian fell early on
Day 1b chipleader Stefan Fabian fell early on

Day 3 of this Main Event is looking pretty fast and furious so far, with just 34 of the 58 players still standing. It's not just the shortest of short stacks who have fallen either; two former chip leaders have vanquished, while the start-of-day chip leader has dipped into third place.
