Hastings Shoves on Strelitz

Level 22 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds with {k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts} on the felt, Brian Hastings checked and Daniel Strelitz bet 1.4 million, about half-pot. Hastings used a time extension then shoved all in for about 4 million and Strelitz snap-mucked.

Hallaert Soft Bubbles; Markus Pohl Bubbles

Money bubble of the $5,300 Main Event
Money bubble of the $5,300 Main Event

Kenny Hallaert opened under the gun and got three-bet to 1,050,000 by Filipe Oliveira on his left. Hallaert responded with an all-in shove worth 8,615,000. Oliveira thought a bit and called.

Kenny Hallaert: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Filipe Oliveira: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, inching the tournament closer to the money and onto the bubble.

A few hands later, a player opened under the gun and Roman Korenev shoved all in for about 3.3 million. Markus Pohl tanked awhile and then jammed as well on the button for around 2.2 million. After action was completed at other tables and the opener mucked, they revealed {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} and {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}.

The {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{6-Clubs} contained plenty of paint but not what Pohl needed. The {5-Diamonds} missed him as well, and with seemingly half of the players in the room crowded around the table, the {9-Spades} river confirmed the bubble was finished.

The tournament staff led Pohl away for his consolation prize: a Tudor watch.

Cassidy Picks Off Stokkan

Level 20 : 70,000/140,000, 140,000 ante

On a board of {j-Spades}{2-Clubs}{a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, Joe Cassidy was in the tank in early position facing a bet of 2.8 million into 4 million or so from Preben Stokkan. Cassidy eventually pushed in calling chips after using a time extension, and his {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} bested {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

The tournament is about 15 players away from the money with 15 minutes or so left in the level before break.

Baldwin Chipping Up

Level 19 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Eric Baldwin has had a fantastic start and sits north of 21 million after coming in around 13 million.

Romain Lewis is on the other end of early variance as he got in most of his stack with {a-}{q-} but lost to the {4-}{4-} of a shorter-stacked opponent. He's now on a little over 10 big blinds.
