Basham Doubles

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Frank Wyville raised to 12,000 on the button, James Basham moved all in for 46,500 out of the small blind, and Chris Moneymaker cold-called in the big blind. Wyville folded.

Basham: {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Moneymaker: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Basham flopped a pair and a straight draw on a board of {4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}, and improved to a straight when the turn brought the {8-Hearts}. The {2-Diamonds} bricked off on the river, and Basham doubled.

Todd Bartlett Eliminated in 4th Place ($10,664)

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Todd Bartlett - 4th Place
Todd Bartlett - 4th Place

Todd Bartlett raised to 15,000 on the button, James Basham called in the small blind, and Chris Moneymaker re-raised to 50,000 in the big blind. Bartlett moved all in for 237,000, Basham folded, and Moneymaker called.

Bartlett: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Moneymaker: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

Bartlett was in great shape to double, and Moneymaker assembled the chips he would need to pay off the all in as the flop fell {2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades}.

"Red eight," Frank Wyville said, grinning. Moneymaker echoed him.

The turn was indeed a red eight - the {8-Hearts} - and Moneymaker picked up an open-ended straight draw. Any nine, five or ten would send Wyville packing.

The room fell silent for a millisecond, then exploded into a chorus of groans when the {10-Spades} spiked on the river, giving Moneymaker the straight.

"Unlucky, man," Moneymaker said softly.

Bartlett hits the rail in fourth place, earning $10,664, while Moneymaker has over a million chips.

The turn was a repeat nine - the {9-Clubs} - and Moneymaker slid out what looked like 50,000.
