Staszko Over Swidler

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Three players including Talal Shakerchi 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event runner up Martin Staszko and Carter Swidler took a flop of {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds} in a raised pot. Shakerchi checked the flop, Staszko fired 1,500, and Swidler called. Shakerchi got out of the way, leaving the duo heads up to fourth street.

The dealer produced the {4-Diamonds} on fourth and Staszko kept up his aggression by moving 3,600 across the betting line. Swidler would not be swayed, however, as he tossed out a call.

The {7-Spades} on the river prompted Staszko to bet one final time. His wager of 5,800 was enough to get Swidler out of the pot and Staszko was awarded the pot. He now has about 50,000 to his name.

The Stakes Get Higher

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

When you're playing the nose-bleed stakes, those first six levels of a Day 1 aren't that important. It's all about level seven, that's when the real cool kids come into play. And on a completely unrelated note, Daniel Colman, crusher of all things high-roller in the last few months, and the man for whom a million-dollar swing is another day of the week, Viktor Blom, have both arrived to play in EPT London.

Blain In Pain

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Three players had got to the river of a board reading {6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. Dermott Blain checked the small blind, Chun Ho Law checked the big blind and Benny Spindler bet 2,100. Blain put out the call but Law sprang a raise to 5,700. First Spindler and then a frustrated Blain folded.

Law was encouraged to show the bluff and he showed the {q-Clubs}. Blain wanted to know Spindler’s hand asking, “Did you have me beat Benny? I had king-jack.” Spindler shook his head. “I’m not having much fun today.” Blain chuckled as he contemplated his meagre stack.

Trickett In Town

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Sam Trickett registered for the Main Event after the dinner break and was given his 30,000 chips. Not long after he was helping a friend charge his phone when the friend looked at his stack asked him, “You doubled up?”

“Yeah.” Trickett said.

“How?”

“Flip.”

That’s how Trickett rolls.
