Jean-Noel Thorel Eliminated in 6th Place (€54,390)

Jean-Noel Thorel - 6th Place
Jean-Noel Thorel - 6th Place

Jean-Noel Thorel was running good so far, but Alex Bilokur did much better on the last hand and eliminated the Frenchman from the tournament.

Laurent Polito opened the hand with a raise to 40,000 from the button and Bilokur called from the small blind as well as did Thorel from the big. The flop went {8-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {6-Hearts} and all three checked.

Bilokur bet 55,000 on the {3-Clubs} turn and Thorel raised to 400,000. Polito went out of the way and Bilokur shoved. Thorel called and opened {J-Clubs} {6-Clubs} for a flush. However, he soon got disappointed to see Bilokur's {K-Clubs} {2-Clubs} for a king-high flush. The {5-Hearts} on the river didn't change a thing and Thorel hit the rail.

Thorel Keeps Doubling

Jean Noel Thorel
Jean Noel Thorel

Frenchman Jean-Noel Thorel just doubled up for two times after shoving his stack against Alex Bilokur at first and then doing the same against Laurent Polito.

The first hand was opened by Tobias Reinkemeier with a raise to 32,000 from under the gun and called by Carlos Mora in the hijack seat. Bilokur re-raised to 78,000 in the small blind and Thorel shoved for 200,000. Reinkemeier and Mora folded and Bilokur called.

Showdown

Bilokur: {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}
Thorel: {9-Hearts} {8-Spades}

The Frenchman was dominated, but the {6-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {3-Spades} flop gave Thorel a pair putting him in the lead. Bilokur needed to hit an ace or a queen, but neither the {2-Diamonds} on the turn, nor the {10-Clubs} on the river was good for him and Thorel doubled up.

Just a few hands later Thorel, sitting in the hijack seat called Laurent Polito's shove from the big blind. This time Thorel was in the lead holding {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} against Polito's {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts}. The board ran {7-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {K-Hearts} {6-Spades} and Thorel doubled his 460,000 stack to 954,000.

On the {J-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop, there was a sizable pot already in the middle and Laurent Polito checked to Jean-Noel Thorel. Thorel bet 106,000 and Polito check-raised to 300,000. Thorel called.

The turn was the {A-Clubs} and Polito moved all in for 628,000. Thorel snapped with the {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}. Polito held the {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for a set of sevens and had Thorel drawing dead.
