End of Level Chip Counts (full)

It's a real shame that we have absolutely zero access to the feature table, as Fabrice Soulier has been doing sterling work up there to extend his lead. Perhaps some of the TV guys will fill us in on some of the action in a break or something.

Break It Up, Boys

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Following the exits of Fatima Moreira de Melo (105th place) and Victoriya Taranova (101st), this is now indeed an all-male affair. Our remaining 71 gentleman players will now take a 15 minute break.

Luck of the Irish

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Dara O'Kearney has doubled up once more pushing with {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} over the top of Aurelien Guiglini's initial raise. Ruslan Prydryk then moved all-in over the top from the big blind.

Guiglini thought for a couple of minutes then folded.

O'Kearney: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Prydryk: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Guiglini, "I had the other two tens... I was calling him [meaning O'Kearney] but I can't call both of you."

The board came {3-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{7-Spades}{k-Spades}{7-Clubs} and O'Kearney doubled up to 300,000 Prydryk was left with just 60,000

Own-Koll

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Maksim Kolosov has knocked out Erich Kollman after an unavoidable case of {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} for the Russian against the German's {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.

The flop came {3-Spades}{a-Spades}{q-Clubs} virtually killing Kollman's hopes but there was a chink of daylight on the {10-Clubs} turn.

"The king of diamonds please," requested Kollman hopefully.

The river was the {2-Diamonds}, right suit, wrong card as Kollman became the latest casualty of the level.

Romanello Busto

Sensing a spot to short-stack-shove in the big blind when small blind Jens Weigel was the only player left in the hand preflop, Roberto Romanello found himself called and all-in with {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} vs. {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

There was silence on the {9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop, and also when Romanello's live rag hit on the {4-Diamonds} turn. When the {2-Hearts} river completed Weigel's straight, Romanello missed it, saying, "That's how you win tournaments."

When he turned to give Weigel a gentlemanly 'hard luck' handshake, Weigel said, "I won," and collected his 230,000 stack while Romanello admitted, "I'm dreaming! Good luck gents."

Nightmair

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Alessandro Laubinger
Alessandro Laubinger

A huge pot was being played out between Hugo Lemaire and Alessandro Laubinger where the board was reading {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, Lemaire had checked the river and Laubinger bet a substantial 125,000 into what was already a pot of around 250,000.

The Frenchman looked apprehensive but slowly pushed out a call, Laubinger turned over {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for top set and Lemaire mucked, the German is now over the 1 million mark while his opponent is left short.

Barbosa Busted

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Joao Barbosa
Joao Barbosa

Joao Barbosa was down to just 40,000 or so when he went all in with {a-Spades}{10-Spades}. Aurelien Guiglini tanked for some time in the big blind before making the call with {j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. It was a decision that worked out well for him - the board ran out {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs} to eliminate the EPT Warsaw winner and put Guiglini up to 325,000.
